I use this pattern a lot for baby blankets, and looks pretty in any color and goes together quickly, this is the first time I’ve done smaller squares.
You dont need a not much of a yarn eater, I used about 5-6 skeins. To get this beautiful design and colors, I used Red Heart ombré color, called Hickory and Red Heart Cafe Latte for border edge and connecting squares. Look at the grey ombré, it’s beautiful, but you could use black to sew together and for borders. I’m in love! Hard to believe it is a ombré. Turned out gorgeous !!
For this blanket I made 10 inch squares with a 5.5 mm hook. I think it would have been better with smaller squares, But after a few days I’m like, “oh, isn’t that so pretty!”.
The brown color pattern makes the piece masculine, so maybe is the perfect gift for a man in your life.
This is a simple and common grand square pattern, but if you don’t know it below is the video tutorial for you to learn.
