Do you want to learn how to Crochet Lampshade? Here you will learn how to do it step by step.
An old and already dull lamp was given a cover for the dome and base, in purple. I’ve never done it before and I loved doing it! I don’t know what you guys think, but I think it turned out cute. A new life for this poor lampshade!
Below, you will see the state it was in: the wooden base all stained and the iron part all rusted. The black dome frame was fine, but the cloth was very frayed and was even starting to tear at the top. The black iron foot was fine and the wiring worked perfectly.
Of course, the Crochet Lampshade was repairable, with good sandpaper, paint and a good dose of patience. The dome would go to waste and a new one would be bought. Well, it wasn’t necessary, as the transformation was done with a little imagination and a crochet hook! It was a good deal, wasn’t it? And the new was made from the old…
WRITTEN PATTERN
I started with a magic ring and widened it to the measure of the circle at the top of the dome.
Then, I made a row of double crochets and then I worked in fantasy crochet stitch.
See bellow how to crochet a fancy stitch.
Increasing the fancy stitches due to the dome shape:
Make 4 rows of 1 double crochet – 1 chain- 1 double crochet, and in the 4th row I gave 2 chain breaks.
Then make 2 more rows of 2 double crochet – 2 chain – 2 double crochet.
And the last 2 rows of 3 double crochet . -2 chain – 3 double crochet
Of course, these points vary according to the shape of the dome: just make and test on the dome…
[activecampaign form=17 css=1]The crochet lining for the base of the lampshade, also starts with the magic ring.
Make 3 rows of double crochets, the last one that should cover the height of the base must be woven in the back loop of the stitch of the previous row, to give the fit.
I didn’t cut the magic ring thread, because when I need to wash it, I can open it a little to come out on top and then, when I put it on again, I tighten it again. Simple and practical!
