There can be nothing cosier than a warm, soft Christmas blanket to snuggle up with on a cold Winter’s day, and with it’s colourful candy canes and bright red pompoms this matching blanket and cushion set will have you feeling festive in no time at all.
Created by Kater Eastwood this is for a beginner crocheter, because is perfect for all crochet abilities as the only two stitches used are dc (UK terms) and chain.
The candy canes and snowflakes are then stitched in to place on to the finished blanket. It really is as simple as that! The blanket is worked in rows of double crochet and the candy canes, rather than being worked in rounds, are simply small crocheted rectangles in double crochet, which are then rolled up and stitched in to place, with the stripe being created by wrapping a length of chain stitch around the cane.
The pdf pattern of the picture is paid, and is available on the link below. But we have video tutorials who taught you how to reproduce the pattern for free.

[activecampaign form=13 css=1]The blanket is crochet in tunisian stitch. In Tunisian crochet, instead of “turning the work” when finishing a forward row, for example, you need to start a new row back. This makes the result a more closed piece;
Pieces made in Tunisian crochet are more rigid and less elastic than those made in ordinary crochet. In addition, they are thicker and therefore the pieces need to be made in the ideal size;
The Tunisian crochet hook is also known as the Afghan hook. It has a longer length and a hook at the ends;
From the simple Tunisian crochet stitch it is also possible to include other crochet stitches in the same piece and vary the techniques.
