    • Medium (worsted) weight yarn, 20 oz (1400 yds, 560g) white; 1 oz (70 yds, 28g) each lavender, light purple, purple, medium purple, light blue, blue and medium blue
    • Size H/8/5.5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
    • Size G/6/4mm crochet hook Tapestry needle

    Note: Our photographed afghan was made with Red Heart Super Saver, white #311, lavender #358, orchid #530, pale plum #579, medium purple #528, lavender #358, light periwinkle #347 and delft blue #885; Red Heart Classic, pale blue #815.

    Gauge: Square = 5 x 5 inches

    INSTRUCTIONS FLOWER (MAKE 28)

    Note: Make 4 of each purple color and 4 of each blue color.

    With white, make a slip knot lp. Rnd 1: Ch 1, 6 sc in lp; join in first sc.

    Fasten off.

    Rnd 2: Join any color except white in any sc; ch 3, bent roll st (see Pattern Stitch) in same sc—beg petal made; in each rem sc work (sl st, ch 3, bent roll st)—petal made; join in first ch-3 sp. (6 petals)

    Fasten off and weave in all ends.

    CENTER

    Note: Center is worked lengthwise. With white, ch 128.

    Row 1 (WS): Sc in back bump of 2nd ch from hook and in back bump of each rem ch, turn. (127 sc)

    Row 2 (RS): Ch 1, sc in each sc, turn.

    Rows 3–27: Rep row 2.

    Row 28: Ch 1, sc in first 23 sc, [ch 2, sk next sc, sc in next sc] 40 times; ch 2, sk next sc, sc in next 23 sc, turn.

    Row 29: Ch 1, sc in first 23 sc; [sc in ch-2 sp, ch 2, sk next sc] 40 times; sc in next ch-2 sp and in next 23 sc, turn.

    Row 30: Ch 1, sc in first 23 sc, [ch 2, sk next sc, sc in next ch-2 sp] 40 times; ch 2, sk next sc, sc in 23 sc, turn.

    Row 31: Ch 1, sc in 23 sc, [sc in ch-2 sp, ch 2, sk next sc] 40 times; sc in next ch-2 sp and in next 23 sc, turn.

    Rows 32–75: Rep rows 30 and 31 twenty-two times more.

    Row 76: Ch 1, sc in each sc and in each ch-2 sp, turn. (127 sc)

    Rows 77–111: Rep row 2. At end of row 103, change to G hook, turn.

    EDGING

    Ch 1, bent roll st in first sc, sk next sc;

    *in next sc work (sl st, ch 2, bent roll st); sk next sc; rep from * 61 times more; working across next side in ends of rows, in end of row 111
