Do you want to learn how make an easy American Flag Blanket crochet? Here you will learn how to do it step by step.
We have two Free patterns options for you, the first one was created by The Turtle Trunk chanel she designed this blanket in 2018, and it has since been only available for purchase in her shops but she open a excepcion and show in a video tutorial in youtube.
This pattern is a large throw blanket that looks like the american flag it measures approximately 6′ x 4′ (72″ x 48″). It features a chevron design and ribbed stitches. It’s a unique and interesting look that kind of mimics the flag blowing in the wind.
This pattern is perfect for independence day, veterans day or for any patriot. I’ts also large enough for two people to enjoy and you can use it outside while you’re watching the fireworks drape it over the couch or lay it over the bed. I hope you enjoy this tutorial and if you’re ready to get started let’s head over to our supply list :
[activecampaign form=13 css=1]
Supplies Needed:
- Medium (4) Weight Yarn in 3 colors (used: Red Heart Super Saver)
- Red (Burgundy) – approx. 1,114 yards
- White (Soft White) – approx. 1,274 yards
- Blue (Soft Navy) – approx. 750 yards
- 6.00mm (J) hook
- Yarn Needle
- Scissors
- Navy or Black Thread
- Sewing Needle
(She used just over three skeins of blue, just over three red and about three and a half skeins of white)
Gauge: 13 Stitch (es) x 6 Rows = 4” x 4” in Double Crochet.
Adjust Hook size up or down to meet gauge.
We’re going to begin with our red yarn and by making a long chain we’re going to chain 252. So she use some stitch markers and mark every 50th chain and that’s just to help you count so feel free to do the same if you’d like. If your chain is off by even just one the design won’t work so make sure you chain the right amount.
Start with a slip knot and chain 252 with your red yarn. Make a double check to make sure you have 252 of them, an then move on to row one.
